I'm a 23 year old from Tallaght, Dublin. I took a joint major in Computer Science and History from University College Dublin (UCD), and graduated in 2009 with a Bachelor of Arts degree. My degree focused primarily on computer programming and software development, Java in particular, but I've since devoted alot of my own time to developing skills oriented towards web development (HTML, CSS, JavaScript, PHP, MySQL).
work experience
I have been teaching myself the relevant technologies for many years now, but alot more can be learned in a shorter space of time when placed in a professional environment, with the associated expectations and time restraints. That's why I consider myself lucky to have been given the opportunity to work for the hotel meta-search engine HotelsCombined.com, while living in Sydney in 2010. As a Technical Assistant, my primary responsibility was to manage the site's Affiliate Program; however, my role was very broad and I became involved in many different aspects of the company, and was exposed to technologies that I was previously unfamiliar with.
career goals
In the short- to medium-term, my hope is to find work in Ireland as a junior developer, learn from an experienced team, hone and refine the skills I currently have, and learn some new ones. I want to get involved in all stages of the development process, and take on more responsibility as I gain experience, gradually moving to a senior position within the company.

I love music, and have been playing guitar for almost 10 years now. I've been teaching myself piano for about 3 years also. I'm interested in sport, and follow the English Premier League and mixed martial arts events like the UFC. I'm a bit of a science nerd, so I like to follow science blogs and listen to podcasts when I can. I've also been reading a good bit over the last year, and hope to continue that trend. And of course, I enjoy films and like to keep up-to-date current affairs and politics!
